Burbank 14, Burroughs 12--Brothers Frank and Steve Brenes teamed to lead the Bulldogs (4-4, 1-2) in the cross-town showdown at Burroughs.
Steve, a junior, rushed 20 times for 129 yards, and Frank, a senior, scored twice on one-yard runs, including the game-winner with 4:25 to play.
Burroughs opened the scoring when junior running back Sean McDermott capped a 75-yard drive with a one-yard run, but a muffed snap on the conversion try left the Indians with a 6-0 lead.
Frank Brenes countered with a one-yard scoring run in the second quarter, and kicker Alfonso Velasco added the conversion for a 7-6 halftime edge.
Burroughs regained the lead in the third period on a 40-yard pass from Marco Esquivel to David Cantella, but Esquivel was sacked on the two-point conversion try.
Frank Brenes again scored on a one-yard run and Velasco kicked the point to give Burbank the margin of victory.
The Bulldogs clinched the victory when cornerback Mike Lyneis intercepted a pass at the Burbank 19 with 1:50 to play.
