OXNARD : $70,000 House Fire Leaves 6 Homeless
- Share via
A fire did $70,000 damage to an Oxnard house Sunday morning and left six people homeless, authorities said.
Five adults and a child escaped without injury from the small, one-story house belonging to Isaias Ornelas, said Battalion Chief Hank Lenhart of the Oxnard Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived at the house in the 400 block of Juanita Avenue, it was already engulfed in flames, Lenhart said. Firefighters had the blaze under control about 12:35 a.m., 20 minutes after they were called, Lenhart said.
The damage to the inside of the house was extensive, and major rebuilding will be required before Ornelas and his family can move back in, Lenhart said. The American Red Cross is providing assistance.
