COUNTYWIDE : Supervisors Back New Insurance Pact
The County Board of Supervisors tentatively approved Tuesday two new agreements to guarantee that health insurance for most county workers will be fully paid by the county.
An agreement with the Public Employees Assn. of Ventura County, which represents most of the county’s 6,400 workers, would provide a health insurance payment of $141 every two weeks, up from $135.66. The contract would cost the county $800,000 for the next eight months, said assistant personnel director Edward L. McClean.
A second contract with the much smaller union representing county engineers calls for the same contribution. It would cost the county $38,000 for the period ending June 30, McClean said.
