PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Allen Expected to Be Ready for Broncos
It appears certain that tailback Marcus Allen will be activated for Sunday’s game against the Broncos at Denver.
“I’ll continue to monitor him the rest of the week and make a decision by game time,” Coach Art Shell said Wednesday. “But if he continues to do what he’s doing, I expect him to play some.”
Allen has missed eight games since suffering strained right knee ligaments in the team’s season opener against Houston. Without Allen, the rushing game has sputtered with Roger Craig and rookie Nick Bell.
Guard Max Montoya, who has missed five games because of a groin pull, also is expected back this week. . . . During the bye week, punter Jeff Gossett overtook Phoenix’s Rich Camarillo for the NFL lead in net punting with a 39-yard average.
