Neighbor Thwarts House Burglary

Share

A concerned neighbor foiled a trio of teen-age would-be burglars, a Camarillo police spokesman said Thursday.

Wednesday afternoon, the resident of a home on Calle de la Rosa in Camarillo reported that stereo equipment, about 130 compact discs, an answering machine and jewelry--worth a total of about $4,500--had been stolen.

About 4 p.m. Wednesday, while a Camarillo deputy was taking a burglary report from Melva Navarro, the home’s owner, a neighbor came by and said three young men were loading suspicious cargo into a car down the street.

A police car intercepted the trio, and the stolen property was identified by the owner. The youths, two age 15 and one age 16, were arrested and then released to the custody of their parents.

Camarillo police presented an arrest report on Thursday to Ventura County juvenile authorities, calling for charges of burglary and possession of stolen property against the three teen-agers.
