3-Man Crew Safe After Ditching Navy Copter
The three-man crew of a Navy helicopter escaped injury Friday afternoon when they ditched their SH3 Sea King in the ocean 2 miles southwest of North Island Naval Air Station.
A Navy spokesman said the cause of the problem that forced the helicopter down was under investigation.
The last accident involving a Sea King helicopter occurred in February, 1989, and there were no injuries then, either, the Navy said.
The helicopter that went down Friday was towed back to North Island.
