SPELL IT Y-E-S: Eleven Orange County schools or districts have agreed to begin formally teaching an anti-drug and anti-gang class called “Project Yes.” Approved by the state and county education boards, it will be taught in social studies classes for third-, fifth-, and seventh-graders. . . . “Our goal is to help students develop self-esteem and decision-making skills, so they can pursue positive alternatives to gangs and drugs,” says Michael Hoy, principal at San Juan Elementary, one school involved.
