SANTA ANA : College Will Begin Homecoming Events

Share

Rancho Santiago College will begin a weeklong series of homecoming activities Tuesday.

Homecoming week, which will culminate with the 68th football meeting between Rancho Santiago College and Fullerton College on Saturday, will also include a pregame barbecue, the crowning of the homecoming king and queen, the presentation of the 1991 Hall of Fame inductees, and a postgame reception.

Because of the large gains in enrollment for all ethnic groups at the college, the theme of this year’s Homecoming festivities is “Diversity.”

In keeping with this theme, the college will host an International Festival on Wednesday and Thursday, which is being organized by the college’s student clubs and organizations.

The Hall of Fame presentation will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the college’s Neally Library.

This year’s inductees are Ed Caruthers, a silver medalist in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and currently a teacher and coach in the Garden Grove Unified School District, and Lavinia Knight, a highly honored archeologist and historical researcher.

Tickets for the pregame barbecue, which will take place on the patio of the Johnson Campus Center, cost $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Tickets for the football game cost $4 for general admission and $3 for Rancho Santiago College students and staff.

All other Homecoming events are free and are open to current and former students.
