The results of an magnetic resonance imaging test on the damaged left knee of La Jolla Country Day running back Rashaan Salaam are expected today, Torres Coach Rick Woods said.

Salaam, a senior who has either surpassed or is threatening all of the section rushing records playing eight-man football, was examined Sunday for possible ligament damage at Scripps Clinic by Dr. Paul Hirshman.

Salaam injured the knee in the second quarter while making a tackle in LJCD’s 38-34 victory Saturday at Santa Fe Christian. He entered the game with 1,518 yards rushing and 30 touchdowns this season. He rushed for 56 yards on nine carries and one touchdown before he was hurt. Salaam will begin rehabilitation today.

“As I understand it,” Woods said, “the injury is not too serious.”
