Gunman Wounds Woman, Then Kills Self

A man apparently shot and seriously wounded a woman, then killed himself Monday night in an unincorporated area near El Cajon.

A witness heard a scream and then saw a naked woman, bleeding from the mouth, run from a home in the 2100 block of Greenwick Road about 7:30 p.m., said Sgt. Roy Stamper of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

A man followed her out of the house, then turned the gun on himself, Stamper said.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, whose name also was not available Monday night, was taken by Life Flight to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was in critical condition and undergoing surgery for facial wounds, a spokeswoman said.
