The New York Yankees are talking informally with former Detroit Tiger announcer Ernie Harwell about a play-by-play job, the Detroit News reported. Harwell’s 32-year career as the Tigers’ announcer ended last month when the club declined to renew his contract. Harwell, 73, began his broadcasting career in New York in 1948 with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
