ANAHEIM : Police Identify Man Who Brandished Ax
A man who was shot to death after allegedly threatening a security guard with an ax was identified Wednesday as Larry Richard Conour, 49, of Fullerton, police said.
Conour died after he was shot twice in the chest by 27-year-old Michael Fraire, a supervisor guard for Bonafide Security, Police Sgt. Chet Barry said.
Barry said Conour apparently was angry with the security company for ordering his van towed from a Fullerton apartment building.
Armed with a 2-foot-long ax, Conour ranted in the company parking lot about his van while half a dozen unarmed guards warily backed away. Fraire, the only armed guard on duty at the time, shot Conour after he refused to stop and put down the ax, Barry said.
Police were continuing their investigation, he added.
