PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Allen’s Knee Still Sound After Game Against Broncos
Marcus Allen’s right knee came through the Denver game unscathed, meaning his playing time should increase this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks at the Coliseum, Coach Art Shell said.
Actually, Shell was more impressed with Allen’s arm.
“Marcus Allen will be our starting quarterback this week,” Shell jokingly said Wednesday.
Allen, who completed an 11-yard scoring pass to tight end Andrew Glover in the Raiders’ 17-16 victory over the Broncos, leads the team with a quarterback rating of 152.1.
Nose tackle Bob Golic said he was not opposed to being tested for HIV along with other teammates in Raider training camp.
“It didn’t bother me, as it wouldn’t bother me to be drug tested,” he said.
Raider guard Max Montoya aggravated slightly his groin pull against Denver but is expected to be ready for the Seahawks.
Linebacker A.J. Jimmerson, however, is doubtful with a thigh injury.
New York Jet kicker Pat Leahy moved past the Raiders’ Jeff Jaeger into the AFC scoring lead with 83 points. Jaeger has 80. . . . Despite a one-touchdown, no-interception performance against the Broncos, Jay Schroeder ranks next-to-last among AFC passers with a 71.3 rating. Cincinnati’s Boomer Esiason is last at 71.1. . . . The Raiders rank 22nd in the NFL on offense and 17th on defense.
