San Francisco’s Jerry Rice said he has played the last seven games with a torn knee ligament. The 49er wide receiver said a magnetic resonance imaging test taken about four weeks ago showed a partial tear of a ligament behind his right knee. . . . Pittsburgh Steeler guard Terry Long, who attempted suicide last summer after flunking the NFL’s steroids test, lost his appeal and was suspended for four games.
