Carlsbad Driver, 19, Killed in Crash

A 19-year-old Carlsbad man died early Sunday when his car was struck by oncoming traffic, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Joshua Brandon Kaye, a student at Kelsey-Jenney Business College in San Diego, and two passengers were driving east along Manchester Avenue in Cardiff at 1:26 a.m., deputies said, when Kaye’s car spun sideways into the westbound lane of traffic, where it was struck by an oncoming car.
Kaye died at the scene, the county medical examiner’s office said. The passengers were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Deputies did not identify the passengers.
