Former Mississippi College basketball coach James Q. (Stute) Allen, whose Choctaw teams set nine NCAA scoring records in 20 years, died of cardiac arrest in Jackson, Miss. He was 83. Allen coached at Mississippi College in 1953-73 and won 214 games, the most by any Choctaw coach.
