ROUNDUP : Moorpark Wrestlers Beat Mt. SAC to Remain Perfect

Moorpark College completed a perfect Western State Conference wrestling season Friday with a 49-0 victory over Mt. San Antonio College.

Visiting Moorpark (8-1 overall, 5-0 in conference matches), swept all 10 matches against the Mounties as the Raiders geared up for the South Central regional meet scheduled for Dec. 7 at Moorpark.

Moorpark’s Neal Mason, who will compete in today’s North/South All-Star meet in Fresno, defeated Mt. San Antonio’s Marlon Jefferson on a second-period injury default.

Mason held a comfortable lead in points at the time of Jefferson’s injury.

Heavyweight Adam Flores, who will join Mason in Fresno, won his match Friday by forfeit. Luis De La Selva, wrestling at 134 pounds, scored the only pin of the meet when he beat Troy Lucarelli at the 5:57 mark of the third period.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 125, Simpson 45--Stuart Epperson scored a game-high 23 points and Philip Sanson added 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Mustangs opened their own tournament with a rout.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

City quarterfinals--Taft High’s Brahna Pastorini advanced with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Dalela A’Giza of Manual Arts at the Racquet Centre in Studio City.

Brahna will compete in the semifinals Dec. 3 at the Racquet Centre.

El Camino Real’s Nue Bui fell to Sirsa Shekim of Palisades, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, in one match, and Kennedy’s Carolina Allas dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Jennifer Momii of Gardena in another.

In doubles, Stephanie Fontaine and Carrie Greenberg of Taft defeated Grace Galvez and Judith DeGuzman of Carson, 0-6, 6-3, 6-1. Sarah Levin and Kate Phanthip of Grant fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to Nancy Kwon and Torri Ellman of Palisades.
