In other men’s basketball games:

La Verne 79, Cal Lutheran 62--Jeff de Laveaga scored 27 points for Cal Lutheran (0-2), which finished fourth in the Menlo College Classic in Menlo Park, Calif. J.R. Woods added 13 points for Cal Lutheran.

Canyons 87, Cuesta 75--Reggie Bell led four Cougar players in double figures with 19 points in a nonconference game. Rasaan Hall scored 17 points, Marquis Wilborn had 14, and Jeff Dorst added 12 for Canyons (3-1).

CROSS-COUNTRY

NCAA Division III championships--Cal Lutheran’s Jonz Norine placed 60th in 25 minutes 44 seconds over the 8,000-meter course at Derr Run Golf Course in Newport News, Va.

Norine was running in 16th place until the final 50 meters when he fell because he was dehydrated. Norine fell twice more before stumbling over the finish line.

Marissa Van Der Valk of Cal Lutheran finished 107th in the women’s race, running 19:50 for 5,000 meters.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 3, Mt. SAC 1--Heather Rolland scored two goals to lead the Raiders (12-2-1) past visiting Mt. SAC (7-2-3) in a Southern California regional semifinal.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Valley 141, Mount St. Mary’s 13--Eight players scored for host Valley (2-0) in a nonconference game in which the Monarchs led, 69-6, at halftime. Valley’s Katina Mines scored 22 points.

Cal Baptist 99, Cal Lutheran 50--Kelly Lee scored 20 points and Evelyn Albert added 11 for Cal Lutheran (0-1) in a nonconference game at Cal Baptist.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC San Diego d. CS Northridge, 8-15, 15-11, 16-14, 13-15, 15-13--Nancy Nicholls had 27 kills and Dawn Krenik added 22 for visiting Cal State Northridge (13-16) in a nonconference match.
