Larry Nelson scored his first victory in two years, winning the Dunlop Phoenix tournament with a par three on the fourth extra hole in a four-man, four-hole sudden death playoff at Miyazaki, Japan.
Nelson, who won $227,000, had finished in a tie at 12-under 276 with Jay Don Blake, Spain’s Seve Ballesteros and Japan’s Isao Aoki after 72 holes of regulation play.
