THOUSAND OAKS : Infant Born After Car Accident Dies
A baby girl who was born prematurely after her mother was involved in a car crash in Thousand Oaks died Saturday at a San Fernando Valley hospital, a hospital official said.
Doctors at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks delivered the baby Friday after performing a Cesarean section on her mother, Maricruz Lopez.
The 21-year-old Thousand Oaks woman was injured about noon Friday when the car she was driving crashed into a car that was pulling out of a parking lot at Moorpark and Janss roads. A nursing supervisor at Los Robles said Lopez, who was seven months pregnant when she delivered the baby, was listed in good condition.
The child was flown to Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, where she died about 8 a.m. Saturday, a nursing supervisor said.
