Colleagues of Oxnard Police Lt. Robert A. Kelley and Sgt. Frank Devorick have organized a retirement dinner Friday for the two veteran officers, who are ending 31-year careers with the department.

Kelley has been a commander in the detective and patrol divisions since March, 1990. Devorick has been assigned to the patrol division since 1987, after a three-year assignment with the internal affairs unit.

“We took the exam together, we’ve spent 31 years together and so we decided to leave together,” said Kelley, 53, who plans to work as a law enforcement consultant. “We’ve had a fishing trip to Mexico planned for years, and maybe we’ll finally get down there.”
