Man Confesses to Murder of LAPD Officer’s Son
A man approached a police officer in a West Covina park Monday afternoon and confessed to the weekend murder of the son of a Los Angeles police officer, authorities said Tuesday.
Jose Aguilar, 19, of West Covina, reportedly told the officer that he shot Damon Washington, 18, a Fullerton College freshman, at a party Saturday night in the 500 block of Bregnate Drive in Diamond Bar, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, who are investigating the slaying.
Aguilar and two men, between the ages of 18 and 20, tried to crash the affair, which was attended by about 200 guests, about 10:30 p.m. They were turned away when none of the guests recognized them, deputies said.
Aguilar allegedly returned to the party about 30 minutes later and fired one shot into a crowd in front of the home, officers said. The bullet fatally injured Washington, who was dead at the scene.
