THE BIG HURT: Property tax bills are due Tuesday, and roughly 700,000 Orange County landowners must have their checks in the mail by midnight then or risk a penalty. . . . Threats notwithstanding, experience shows that many won’t make it in time. Treasurer-Tax Collector Robert L. Citron says more than 31,000 residents paid their taxes late last year, and recession continues to bite. . . . “I expect the delinquency this year to be even worse,” he says.
