PREP NOTES : Taylor, Garritson Team for Cross-Country Meet

Shelley Taylor of Edison and Carrie Garritson of Sunny Hills, rivals during the season, will be teammates at the Kinney national cross-country championships Saturday at Balboa Park in San Diego.

Taylor, a senior, and Garritson, a sophomore, qualified for the West team by placing among the top eight finishers at last week’s regional meet at Woodward Park in Fresno. Taylor was third, covering the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes 28 seconds. Garritson was fourth in 17:32.

A week earlier, Taylor defeated Garritson, 17:28 to 18:06, on the same course to win the State Division II individual title.
