Pair Arrested After Car Stolen at Gunpoint
Two North Hollywood residents were arrested on suspicion of auto theft and armed robbery Sunday after leading police on a 90-m.p.h. car chase in Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles police said.
A 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, whose names were not released, were being held in jail in Van Nuys and Pacoima. Bail had not been set.
The two are suspected of stealing the car at gunpoint Sunday morning on Fenton Avenue near Kathyann Street. Authorities were alerted to the theft by an electronic tracking device in the stolen car.
Police gave chase and the stolen car reached speeds over 90 m.p.h. before crashing when the driver tried to turn from Van Nuys Boulevard onto Fenton, according to police. The occupants fled on foot but were arrested a short distance away, police said.
