Long Wins Twice, but Titans Get Tie, Loss in Wrestling

Ron Long was the only double winner for Cal State Fullerton, which wrestled two matches Sunday at the University of Oklahoma.

The Titans tied Southwest Missouri State, 18-18, then lost to Oklahoma, 29-14.

Long (142 pounds) took a 5-4 decision over John Krause of Southwest Missouri, then won, 4-0, over Ivan Huergo of Oklahoma.

In the match with Southwest Missouri: Dwayne Buth (177 pounds) won, 10-1, and John Sanchez (190) got a 1-1 draw to give Fullerton an 18-14 lead going into the final match. But Fullerton’s Tim Ryan (heavyweight) lost a 12-1 decision to Travis Ross, bringing about the tie.
