Webb Tosses, Gets Tossed, but Kings Win
Spud Webb, at 5 feet 7, one of the few NBA players most officials don’t have to look up to, was ejected Thursday night at Sacramento for throwing the ball at referee Paul Mihalik.
Webb, angry over a foul call, was thrown out early in the second half when the Kings had a 20-point lead over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 76ers caught the Kings in the fourth quarter, 100-100, but Mitch Richmond made the key plays down the stretch and the Kings won, 114-110.
Webb’s 12 points had helped the Kings build a 67-47 lead before he was ejected and the 76ers began their comeback.
The Kings recovered in time to give new Coach Rex Hughes his second victory in a row.
