Florida State found out what life on the road is all about in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Grant Hill scored 26 points and top-ranked Duke defeated the Seminoles, 86-70, Monday night at Durham, N.C.

The Seminoles, 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC, upset North Carolina at Chapel Hill last month in their first ACC game.

“Obviously, this was a different game for us than North Carolina,” Florida State Coach Pat Kennedy said. “Their bulk hurt us. This league is extremely physical.”

Duke (8-0, 2-0) jumped to a 13-4 lead and built an 18-point margin by halftime.

Hill made 10 of 12 shots and grabbed 10 rebounds, sparking two key runs late in the first half as the Blue Devils pulled away.

Sam Cassell scored 20 points for Florida State.

No. 3 Oklahoma State 72, Kansas State 34--The Cowboys held the Wildcats to 11 points in the first half and won a Big Eight Conference opener at Stillwater, Okla.

Sean Sutton scored 16 points and Randy Davis had 13 as the Cowboys (13-0) won their 23rd consecutive home game.

Kansas State (6-4) had Oklahoma State’s top three big men--Byron Houston, Davis and Bryant Reeves--on the bench with three fouls by halftime. But the Wildcats made only four of 20 shots and trailed, 32-11, after 20 minutes.

No. 19 Wake Forest 74, Samford 45--Rodney Rogers scored 15 points and the Deacons (8-1) coasted past the Bulldogs at Winston-Salem, N.C.
