HUNTINGTON BEACH : Chairwoman Picked for Planning Panel
The city Planning Commission last week elected Jan Shomaker to become its chairwoman for the coming year.
Shomaker, who was appointed to the commission by Councilman Don MacAllister, had been the vice chairwoman for the past year. She succeeds Kirk Kirkland as head of the commission.
A former president of the Huntington Beach-Fountain Valley Board of Realtors, Shomaker has favored the rights of property owners and developers over city regulation while serving on the commission.
Roy Richardson, who was appointed to the commission a year ago by Councilwoman Linda Moulton-Patterson, was elected to be the commission’s vice chairman this year.
