The 20- to 40-m.p.h. Santa Ana winds that swept across the Oxnard Plain on Saturday are expected to continue throughout the weekend, officials at the National Weather Service said.

Easterly winds also whipped up high waves on Lake Casitas about midday Saturday, causing a 16-foot pleasure craft, which was caught in a narrow channel near the marina, to take on water, Park Ranger Tim Lawson said.

The safety of the craft and its two passengers was not threatened, Lawson said, but he added that it is unusual for winds out of the east to affect conditions on the lake.

The California Highway Patrol posted a wind advisory for the Simi Valley and Ventura areas. No wind-related incidents were reported.

Forecasters predicted that weekend temperatures, generated by a high-pressure system over the Pacific, will dip into the low 20s during the night in Ojai and into the 30s to 50s elsewhere, officials said.

No precipitation is expected later in the week. “It looks like a dry week,” with temperatures in the mid-60s to 70s during the day and low 40s at night, said Steve Burback, a meteorologist with WeatherData Service.
