A 94-year-old woman was found burned to death in her beachfront condominium, firefighters said Monday.
Genevieve West had lived alone in the upper section of a two-unit building.
Arson investigators are looking into the origin of Sunday evening’s fire.
“Whenever there is a death involved, we have the sheriff’s fire investigation team assist us,” Carlsbad Fire Marshal Mike Smith said.
Damage to the property in 2700 block of Ocean Street was estimated at more than $100,000. There were no other casualties.
