Ron Turner, former offensive coordinator at Stanford, will be named coach at San Jose State, the San Jose Mercury News is reporting in today’s editions. Turner, 38, spent three seasons (1985-87) as an assistant at USC and also spent time at Arizona, Northwestern, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M.; Turner and Cal State Fullerton Coach Gene Murphy were the only two candidates interviewed.
