Sean Rooks scored 20 points and Arizona’s ball-hawking defense did the rest as the ninth-ranked Wildcats defeated Oregon State, 86-58, in a Pacific 10 Conference game Sunday at Tucson.

Arizona (15-3 overall, 5-2 in the Pac-10) held Oregon State to 37% shooting and forced 21 turnovers. The Wildcats led, 39-22, at halftime and by 26 with 14 minutes left.

“We started out with defensive intensity,” Arizona guard Matt Othick said.

“That’s the key for us. Our defense is 100% better than it was earlier this season.”

Scott Haskin scored 21 points for Oregon State (11-10, 3-5), which got no closer than 55-41 in the second half.
