Keep Funds in Oxnard
I am among local residents who mistakenly thought that a donation to the Oxnard College Foundation would help to finance projects there. Instead, I read in The Times (“Fund Drive for Oxnard College Backfires,” Jan. 12) that money collected will fill the coffers of an out-of-town consulting firm. I don’t understand why someone out of town was hired to survey a local appeal. Through foundation funds, local solicitations and articles, couldn’t the needs and valid nature of the cause have been presented to the public at less expense?
