Adopt Zero-Tolerance Social Services Policy

The solution to Santa Monica’s homeless problem is very simple: Completely eliminate all of the city’s social services programs, which not only sustain transients but attract them in ever-greater hordes. These vagrant derelicts do not come to Santa Monica for the ocean view; they come for the “free ride.” With a bumbling, Fellini-esque City Council largely populated by armchair dreamers who are comfortable to sit back and let the taxpayer subsidize their pathetic, PIMBY (Please . . . In My Back Yard) social experiments, Santa Monica has become a mendicants’ mecca.

It’s easy for bleeding-heart liberals and comfortable, secure academic theoreticians to find instances of tragic fortune and tales of woe among the homeless, but such facile, politically correct tergiversation fails to address the nitty-gritty. The fact is that much of the transient population in Santa Monica consists of disgusting sociopaths and criminals.

The first step is clear. We the voters must replace the current City Council with individuals who represent the people, the majority of decent citizens who want to live in a clean urban environment and emphatically refuse to embrace lowlife who don’t.
