Missie Berteotti had three birdies and an eagle on the front nine Wednesday en route to a six-under-par 66 and the first-round lead in the $500,000 Women’s Kemper Open.
Berteotti, 28, mastered the gusty trade winds blowing across the par-72, 6,111-yard Blue Course at the Wailea Resort on the island of Maui and holds a one-shot advantage over Dottie Mochrie.
Helen Alfredsson and Dawn Coe are two shots off the pace at 68.
Susie Berning is next at 69.
