Downey Riles Readers (Again)
There is an old credo in the United States which says “innocent until proven guilty.” It seems that Mike Downey is already preparing a case for convicting Alberto Tomba of some heinous, yet undisclosed, crime (in “His Skiing Is Great, but His Act Gets Old”) while Tomba is at the pinnacle of his career. Has Downey got a case of Mike Tyson on the brain?
If Downey has some damaging evidence to put Tomba in the same (low) class as Andrew Dice Clay or Tyson, as Downey insinuates, then bring the facts forward. Otherwise, give this man, who became the first Alpine skier to win two gold medals in the same event, the respect he deserves.
