Man Shot 5 Times in Gang-Related Dispute
A 20-year-old Arleta man was shot five times during a gang-related dispute Saturday in North Hills, police said.
Mervin Brillantes was listed in serious condition Saturday night, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Bill Thomas said.
Witnesses told police that Brillantes and the gunman had an argument about 3:30 p.m. on Liggett Street near Gloria Avenue, and Brillantes tried to escape. The gunman then shot Brillantes three times in the chest, once in the arm and once in the stomach before jumping in a car and driving away, Thomas said.
No arrests had been made, Thomas said.
