OUTLOOK

Walker enters his second season with the Eagles and finds a team loaded with returners, though only a few are seniors. Still, the sheer numbers make Calvary Chapel one of the early favorites for the Arrowhead League championship. Walker, for one, rates the Eagles among the top three in the league; they finished third last season. “That’s our goal,” Walker said. “We have high expectations.” The team has two good starting pitchers in staff ace Schroy and No. 2 starter Fuller, with Herr and Martinez in relief or spot starting. When not on the mound, the Eagles will take advantage of Fuller’s fielding ability in center field. Walker said the squad is also strong on defense, but perhaps a bit inexperienced in some areas. “Our weakness might be our youth,” Walker said. “We will be utilizing freshmen, sophomores and juniors. This year, that makes up the majority of our roster. But that can be a blessing, because we will have them for at least three years.”
