Eddie Keys, who worked as a property master for more than 60 years, has died at a Burbank hospital. He was 89.

A longtime North Hollywood resident, Keys died of complications of a stroke and pneumonia, said his wife, Julie Keys.

Born in Livingston, Ill., Keys came to California in 1924, started his career as a property master at 20th Century-Fox Studios and went to work at Universal Studios in 1932.

Keys took two years off in the mid-1930s to tour with the Tom Mix Circus as a trapeze artist, sharpshooter and rope trick performer. He returned to Universal Studios, where he worked on films including “Destry Rides Again” (1939), “My Little Chickadee” (1940) and “Earthquake” (1974) in addition to the 1960s television series “The Munsters.” He retired in 1987.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 506 in Van Nuys and the Al Malaikah Shrine in Los Angeles.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Keys is survived by his son, Roy E. Keys Jr., of Redondo Beach; brothers Brant Keys and Chester Keys, both of Seattle; sister Lola Gudgel of Seattle; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His daughter, Carol Pfeiffer, died in 1989.

A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Forest Lawn Mortuary, Hollywood Hills, is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Keys’ name to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
