U2 RECONNAISSANCE: Reports from the Florida start of U2’s “Zoo TV Tour” are that the Irish band is coming out rocking. Miami Herald pop music critic Leonard Pitts Jr. described the nearly two-hour show last Sunday at the Miami Arena--the tour’s second stop--as “energetic and assured” and tells Pop Eye that the show started with eight straight songs from the new “Achtung Baby” album, though such older hits as “Pride (In the Name of Love)” are also being played, plus a three-song acoustic set of “Desire,” “Angel of Harlem” and Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love.”

The stage set features multiple television screens and six German Trabant cars with lights flashing. The one problem in Miami: The show started 90 minutes late after the trucks carrying the group’s equipment were delayed.

Tickets for U2’s Los Angeles Sports Arena shows on April 12 and 13 are expected to go on sale--phone orders only through a special number--on March 23. And if you’re in the market for interesting souvenirs, “Achtung Baby” condoms are being sold at the shows.
