IRVINE : City Official Named to State Commission
- Share via
Gov. Pete Wilson has appointed Robert Storchheim, the city’s manager of building, safety and engineering, to the state Building Standards Commission.
The commission approves all proposed changes to the state’s building code, which are later enforceable by state and city governments. Wilson appointed Storchheim, 60, to fill the commission seat reserved for a building official. The commission also includes a fire official, an architect, an engineer, a contractor, a physically disabled person, a representative of labor and three members of the public.
Storchheim, a Republican who lives in Irvine, is past president of California Building Officials and was named Building Official of the Year in 1991 by that organization. He has been a city employee for 15 years.
