PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Pacifica Scores Three in Seventh to Gain a 4-3 Victory Over Cypress

Justin Blaisdell’s two-out single drove in Eric Stevens with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and Pacifica overcame a three-run deficit to defeat Cypress, 4-3, in a nonleague game Wednesday.

Stevens, who had been hit by a Garrett Vitale pitch, stole second to put himself into scoring position.

Jeff Wozniak and Dan Murray had RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth for Pacifica (4-2), with Murray scoring on Shane Sowers’ passed ball to tie the score.

Ron Weber (2-0) pitched 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief for the victory.

Vitale hit a solo homer in the sixth. Cypress is 2-4.

Kennedy 3-10, Magnolia 1-2--Devon Underwood had a two-run single in the first inning of the opener and Scott Jones drove in four runs in the second game at Glover Stadium as the Fighting Irish improved to 5-2.

La Habra 6, Whittier Christian 0--Jason Johnson and Mark Picco homered and Danny Evans pitched a three-hitter for the visiting Highlanders (3-1).

Rancho Alamitos 5, Long Beach Poly 4--Marshall Brown pitched a four-hitter and Jeff Byrd, Erin Winemeiller and Hilario Reyes each had two hits for the visiting Vaqueros (2-1).

Brethren Christian 5, Palos Verdes Chadwick 2--Scott Tabot, who was also the winning pitcher, tied the score for Brethren in the third inning. Teammate Jesse Mullen then put Brethren ahead with an RBI in the same inning.
