Man Dies Avoiding Wrong-Way Driver
An 18-year-old Ontario, Calif., man was killed when he swerved to avoid an oncoming car on the Orange Freeway and plunged down a 200-foot embankment, authorities said Thursday.
Inmpeng Sorisa was traveling south on the freeway at about 65 m.p.h. when he veered to avoid a car being driven on the wrong side of the freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Livingston said.
Sorisa lost control of his car, which crossed all the southbound lanes and tumbled several times before landing on its wheels over the side of the freeway, Livingston said.
Sorisa died at the scene.
The accident happened about 8:20 p.m. north of Tonner Canyon, Livingston said. The other driver, who was unidentified, drove away.
