California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Film Commission Shake-Up Planned
Mayor Frank Jordan plans a major shake-up of the city’s 11-member Film Commission, which has the job of promoting the city as a place to shoot movies. New commission members are expected to be named this week, said Hadley Roff, Jordan’s chief of staff. Jordan said he will appoint people who will more aggressively promote the city to movie makers. It is anticipated that one of the reconstituted panel’s first jobs will be to replace film coordinator Robin Eickman. Jordan had announced that he would fire Eickman, appointed 12 years ago by Mayor Dianne Feinstein. But it is the commission, not the mayor’s office, which has the authority to dismiss the film coordinator.
