SLAM DUNK
A millionaire college basketball coach--imagine that! (“Throwing in the Towel,” by Michael J. Goodman, Feb. 16). Jerry Tarkanian and his fan club don’t evoke a lot of empathy from me. The history of UNLV basketball under Tarkanian, aside from being another chapter in the sad story of American athletics, is also an incredible waste of resources. I am saddened that The Times would even bother interviewing such pathetic, selfish people.
