Bridge Over Tracks Needed

Share

As a member of the Green Line Parents Group at Camarillo State Hospital, along with my wife, I deeply mourn the untimely death of Ms. Phyllis Gilbert whose car was struck by an Amtrak passenger train on Las Posas Road at 5th Street near Camarillo on Jan. 12. Ms. Gilbert perished en route to Camarillo State Hospital to attend a meeting of the Green Line Parents Group, an association of parents who have children residing at the hospital.

Ms. Gilbert was a very charming lady filled with emotion and drive where the welfare of the developmentally disabled was concerned. She didn’t hesitate to travel to Sacramento a number of times to plead for continued care for the developmentally disabled.

Los Posas at 5th is a dangerous intersection. A heavy flow of traffic travels through this intersection, and there aren’t enough lanes to truly maneuver at the intersection. I strongly suggest that a bridge be built over the train tracks at the intersection to prevent any further tragedies such as that which befell Ms. Phyllis Gilbert.
