Dwight Gooden, recovering from shoulder surgery, gave up only three hits and a walk in five innings during the New York Mets’ 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros at Kissimmee, Fla. Gooden said he felt no pain in his shoulder. . . . First baseman Reggie Jefferson of the Cleveland Indians is expected to be sidelined at least six weeks because of a sprained left elbow.
