Turmoil in Yugoslavia

The article “Serbians in L.A. Voice Support During Unrest” (March 15) was probably the first to express, at least partially, the Serbian point of view on the civil war in Croatia. Being involved in the process of interviewing some members of the Serbian-American community here, I feel responsible for pointing out some aspects of this article.

Most of the material referring to human rights abuses against the Serbian population in Croatia gathered by the reporter through long interviews representing firsthand testimonies and stories told by close relatives of those interviewed was omitted. Instead, an odd insert was introduced in the core of the article--statements by Felix Duhovic, president of the Croatian-American Club of San Pedro. To make it worse, it was an opinion that was already presented without any “balancing” in a previous article.
