Glendale : Aid for Child Abuse Victims
The Los Angeles County Medical Assn.’s Women’s Auxiliary, District 4, has given the Glendale Police Department $700 to buy a video camera to record interviews with suspected victims of child abuse.
Investigators hope that such recordings will help spare youngsters the trauma of being interviewed repeatedly about sexual or physical abuse as their case proceeds through the court system, said Lt. Stephen Campbell, who oversees juvenile investigations for the department.
The donation was made Friday by the auxiliary, which represents Glendale, La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge. Previously, the group has given Glendale police some furnishings for a home-like “soft” interview room, educational coloring books for distribution at local schools and stuffed animals for abuse victims.
